Hi! I’m Brie. Welcome to Half Moon Magic!  

It’s so good to be back! I started selling my crystallized book art in 2023 and was received so generously on social media that I was able to make a the most joyous career out of it for a couple of years. Then, in 2025, life happened (and the Trump administration’s attacks on the trans and neurodivergent communities). The impacts of which required my support and so I took time off for my high-needs kiddo, my community where I grew our local pride festival, my home flooding (including my art studio), and relocating to a friend’s house and then eventually The Netherlands where my new life is just beginning in The Hague. This is also, coincidentally (or fate?) where my passion for art as an adult really began in 2018 when I travelled here for work, so it has definitely felt like a bit of a homecoming as well.

When life changes so drastically, so traumatically and so fast, so does art I guess. So here I am, now supporting an entrepreneurship visa and trying again with all new mediums that reflect me currently. Antique markets and thrift stores are plentiful but I don’t have a big climate controlled studio like I did in the states, so I am working out of a tiny corner in my apartment bedroom with constant interruptions.

Why “Half Moon Magic”?  Great question!  Did I mention I’m doing all of this through perimenopause when the transition back to witchcraft is really the only way to survive? I’m only half joking :) The half moon in the first and third quarters of the lunar cycle are creatively fertile times.  In the first quarter it symbolizes a period of strength and determination where emotional energy can be focused into creative passions.  In the third it symbolizes a period of introspection and reflection that allows creativity and growth for the next stage and new intentions.  This is my passion project, creative outlet, daily therapy, and physical manifestation of trying to keep my family safe in an increasingly unkind world. 

If you like a bit of sass, hate fascism and the patriarchy, love the LGBTQIA2S+ community and are bouncing full of neurospicy, you are my people! And to all of the sweet amazing Dutchies and fellow immigrants here in The Netherlands and beyond who have welcomed my family, I can’t begin to thank you enough for the love and support we’ve been shown! I hope to see you all at one of my art markets!
